METRONIDAZOLE+NICOTINAMIDE belongs to the class of medicine known as an antibiotic. This combination medicine is primarily used to treat acne. Acne or acne vulgaris is a long-term skin problem caused when hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. It leads to the formation of blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, oily skin and a scar on the uppermost layer of the skin (epidermis).

METRONIDAZOLE+NICOTINAMIDE is composed of two medicines namely: Metronidazole and Nicotinamide. Metronidazole kills parasites and anaerobic bacteria that are responsible for causing infections. It works by damaging their DNA. On the other hand, nicotinamide is a form of vitamin B. It exerts anti-inflammatory effects when applied to the skin and reduces swelling, redness and tenderness associated with acne. Together they effectively help in treating acne by preventing or stopping bacterial growth.

You should not use a METRONIDAZOLE+NICOTINAMIDE if your skin is very sensitive or allergic to METRONIDAZOLE+NICOTINAMIDE. Do not apply METRONIDAZOLE+NICOTINAMIDE on the cut, scraped, sunburned or eczema-affected skin part. Accidently METRONIDAZOLE+NICOTINAMIDE gets into your eyes, immediately rinse your eyes with water thoroughly and contact your doctor immediately if the irritation persists. Inform your doctor if your skin conditions do not improve. METRONIDAZOLE+NICOTINAMIDE may take time to treat acne, so do not apply dosage more than prescribed for better and faster results. If you are pregnant or a nursing mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using METRONIDAZOLE+NICOTINAMIDE. METRONIDAZOLE+NICOTINAMIDE should not be used for children less than 18 years of age as safety and efficacy of METRONIDAZOLE+NICOTINAMIDE for children has not established.
